FS range

Featuring the same reliable pumps as the VT range or Compton diaphragm pumps, the FS range is a critical piece of equipment specially designed for use in dry rise fire suppression systems. All our FS air compressors have been designed to be wall-mounted, freeing up valuable floor space. Alternatively, they can also operate on the floor depending on the exact requirements of your applications.

The Bambi FS range delivers compressed air to fill the pipework, creating a pressurised environment that effectively keeps a valve sealed shut thereby preventing water from entering the sprinkler system. This not only safeguards against potential water damage but also plays a role in preventing corrosion. The presence of air within the pipes significantly reduces stagnant water, which can lead to rust and other forms of deterioration.

If a fire is detected, the air pressure within the pipes begins to decrease. The resulting drop in pressure triggers the mechanism of the valve, which then opens to allow water to flow freely into the sprinkler pipes. As water flows into the system, it is released through the sprinkler heads dousing the flames and putting out the fire.

A major benefit of these fire sprinkler air compressors is their ability to top up air lost through leaks to maintain system pressure. This is due to the restrictor valve, which has two innovative features: when it is open fully, it allows the full flow of air to pass and when closed, air is still able to pass into the pipework to top up any air leaks and stop the fire sprinkler system from dropping too low so that the valve opens to fill with water.

Which FS compressor is right for you?

To ensure optimal compatibility with your operations, we offer a range of FS models with different fill times depending on the system size. Below you will find a calculator that will tell you which compressor is the best fit for your requirements once you have input the size of your pipe system (m3), the system pressure (bar) and desired fill time.

For applications where a fine differential is required, Bambi offers Bailey MacKey pressure switches, which can be adjusted to a differential of just 0.2 bar. As standard, FS compressors feature a 1 bar differential. Additional features on the FSP and FSD fire sprinkler compressors include an isolation switch and glycerine pressure gauges for increased reading accuracy. For systems passing through cold stores, we’d also recommend our VT range with dryers to ensure dry air in the fire sprinkler system, which helps to prevent water vapour condensing and then freezing in the pipework.
