Choosing the right dental compressor for your surgery
It’s important to start by helping you choose the right dental compressor. Below is a list of things to consider:
1. Air quality
Air quality is a fundamental consideration for any dental professional. It helps to protect your patient and the efficiency and integrity of your procedures. It also helps to ensure the longevity of your equipment, particularly dental handpieces as the presence of moisture in your compressed air can cause premature failure. An oil-free compressor with dryer is therefore a must – they eliminate oil contamination risk, which can interfere with procedures such as implants, composite bonding and veneers.
2. The importance of dryers
As mentioned above, the presence of moisture in your compressed air can wreak havoc on your dental operations. We recommend choosing our VT compressor with an integral air dryer to prevent safety issues and equipment degradation. Bambi VT compressors with dryers lower the dew point to as low as -40°C, better than the HTM2022 standard of -20°C.
3. HTM2022 guidance
It is also essential that your dental compressors comply with the HTM2022 regulations to ensure optimal safety and hygiene. It is also important to check the exact air demand required by the HTM for the number of surgeries being used. HTM2022 states you must have a minimum of 50 litres per minute (lpm) at 5 bar per surgery.
